Liverpool Architectural Practice, Denovo Design, joined thousands of organisations around the world last month in supporting World Green Building Week, and by hosting a ‘extended lunchtime’ expo on Thursday 20 September 2012, with all proceeds donated to Diabetes UK.
The event, also supported by Mobilane, manufacturers of living walls & green screens; Pulse Training and Development, and a variety of stakeholders, friends and private clients, will help raise awareness of sustainable design and construction to which the importance of health and wellbeing is integral.
World Green Building Council explains: “World Green Building Week shines a spotlight on the key role of buildings in conserving resources, saving money and creating jobs while providing healthier places to live, work and play”.
Ninety nations from around the globe and representing in excess of 20,000 organisations, inspired by the World Green Building Council, hosted conferences, get-togethers and an array of events to highlight the role of green buildings in creating greener and healthier neighbourhoods, communities and cities.
David Duvall, Director Denovo Design, comments: “Although, of course, design is our passion, it’s not all about the buildings themselves – it’s about the ‘Bigger Picture’. It’s as much about ‘future-proofing’, about thinking of the positive impact we can have on the wider community, the short and long-term effects on health and wellbeing of our stakeholders and the planet itself!
A mouth-watering buffet was provided by local award-winning and alcohol free cafe bar, the Brink, a revolutionary venue committed to promoting health and creativity of the local community
The event also highlighted the sterling work of Denovo Design’s nominated charity Diabetes UK. The generous donations of delegates at the event will further help the charity to care for sufferers and promote awareness.
