THE GREEN ORGANISATION has been established since 1994 as an international, independent, non-profit, non-political, non-activist environment group, dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
OUR ACTIVITIES include:
THE GREEN APPLE ENVIRONMENT AWARDS
The Green Apple Awards campaign was one of the first to be accepted by Britain’s RSA Environmental Awards Forum as meeting the high standards and criteria to be approved as an automatic conduit into the Brussels-led European Business Awards for the Environment. It is still one of the few schemes that has this honour.
We currently operate three Green Apple Awards schemes:
THE GREEN APPLE AWARDS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL BEST PRACTICE
THE GREEN APPLE AWARDS FOR THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT AND ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE
THE SCOTTISH GREEN APPLE AWARDS
We have Green Champions, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in all sectors and categories – and the highest scorer overall (our Champion of Champions) wins a free holiday for two in Aquacity, the world’s greenest holiday resort in Slovakia’s High Tatras Mountains.
Winners are also invited to take their achievements on to the highest level by joining our GREEN WORLD AMBASSADORS programme. This enables them to earn more recognition and publicity for ‘helping others to help the environment ‘– by having their winning papers published in The Green Book, the world’s only annual work of reference on environmental best practice.
We distribute The Green Book, free of charge, to companies, organisations, environment professionals, universities, national and local governments, reference libraries and the media; and it is a permanent focal point on our website, which receives 1million+ hits every year.
If you are making an effort to help the environment, you probably qualify for membership of The Green Organisation. You can choose Gold, Silver or Bronze membership status, by selecting the benefits package most suitable to your needs.
We work with Green Earth Appeal and the United Nations to plant trees where they will do most good in the world.
We also respond to environmental disasters by offering assistance, tents, bedding and other materials to help the victims
The Green Organisation is funded from membership, sponsorship and its publishing activities. But as it is a not-for-profit organisation it has also been able to channel this support into various environmental initiatives of its own.
Give A Child A Chance – an embryonic campaign to twin schools internationally, so that UK schools can recycle educational materials for their overseas ‘twins’ and raise funds for them by selling unwanted toys, etc.
Environmental disasters – The Green Organisation has responded to help in situations such as earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, volcanic eruptions, etc., etc. We generally provide blankets and bedding, tents and toys for the orphans.
Get Your Kit Off was a very successful scheme that recycled unwanted sports kit to emerging nations – A very popular and high-profile campaign, currently in need of a sponsor.
The Tsunami Appeal shipped tons of donated toys to children who had lost everything, and still left many more items available for British children’s charities.
The Pakistan Earthquake saw them send tents, bedding and blankets to help the survivors
Save The Swans and Save The Barn Owls are self-descriptive activities, but The Green Organisation has other ambitious projects to pursue once the financial support is in place.
The London Walk is available for title branding and has the potential to raise more than the London Marathon for numerous charities.
Acting For The Environment has enlisted the support of celebrities and showbiz stars who want to help twin British schools with those in the Third World, and there are various other original and unique campaigns waiting to be launched.
